It’s about time Marvel’s Thunderbolts* movie stormed onto Disney+ – and, at long last, it has an official streaming launch date: August 27.

It’s been well over three months since Thunderbolts‘ was released in theaters, not to mention disappointingly underperform at the global box office. Regardless of whether you checked it out at your local cinema or not, it’ll soon be available to stream at home. If nothing else, that’s worth celebrating.

Before you load up Disney+ to watch it, though, read my spoiler-light Thunderbolts* review to find out why it’s one of the best Marvel movies of recent times. Oh, and be sure to scroll on through this guide for even more information on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, including details on its runtime.

What is the release date for Thunderbolts* on Disney+?

If you somehow missed the release date reveal in this article’s introduction, here’s what you need to know: Thunderbolts* will make its Disney+ debut on Wednesday, August 27.

That won’t surprise those of you who frequent these parts. On August 8, I covered the news that Thunderbolts‘ Disney+ release date had been leaked by the streamer’s Greek PR team. The fact that Disney has officially confirmed its official arrival on one of the world’s best streaming services, then, proves this leak was legitimate.

Considering MCU movies usually join Disney+’s back catalog three months after their theatrical debut, I’d predicted the final Marvel Phase 5 film – see what’s coming next via my Marvel Phase 6 guide – would land on the platform sometime in August. Admittedly, its actual release date is a bit later than I thought – I said it would be with us around August 6 – but I’m glad I guessed the correct month.

Regardless, expect to see Thunderbolts* added to my new Disney+ movies guide in the near future.

What is the runtime of Thunderbolts*?

Don’t worry, Thunderbolts* isn’t as long as the two most recent Avengers movies (Image credit: Marvel Studios)

Thunderbolts* has a runtime of two hours and six minutes.

That includes its end credits crawl, which you should definitely sit through to fully appreciate the sheer amount of people who worked on one of the best MCU Phase 5 projects (in my view, anyway).

Does Thunderbolts* have a mid- and/or post-credits scene?

Yes! Thunderbolts* has a mid-credits scene and a post-credits stinger. Where the MCU’s future is concerned, the latter is far more important than the former, but they’re both worth watching.

Want to know more about them once you’ve streamed it? My Thunderbolts* ending explained piece is packed with more information about those scenes, as well as plenty of speculation about what the film’s end-credits scene teased before The Fantastic Four: First Steps was released in theaters on July 25 (read my review of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and The Fantastic Four: First Steps ending explained piece while you’re here) and well before Avengers: Doomsday‘s December 2026 arrival (check out my dedicated guide to Avengers: Doomsday, too).
